A screencap of xgenchat.co.nr
The XGen Chat is a free, unofficial chatroom for XGen members. The chat was first created by Dragon on September 8th, 2007. The chat was originally hosted on Freewebs, but was moved to GuildPlex four days after the site's creation, on September 12th.

This chatbox was created with the free xat ChatBox maker. The chat, like all xat ChatBoxes, features six ranks of users (which includes Banned users), a friends list, and the ability to use a small 30 by 30 pixel avatar, which will show up to the left of your name when posting messages. Main Owners or Owners may ban users for any amount of time, and Moderators may ban people for up to 6 hours. All of a user's visible messages will be deleted when they are banned. These three may also kick a user with a reason, in which case the user simply logs back in. More information regarding the xat ChatBoxes can be found here.

At first, the ChatBox was hosted on a Guildplex clan website which simply had the chatbox put into a template. It stayed that way until the August 9, 2008 when xgenchat.co.nr was created by LizardRob, which remains (aside from minor updates) the same until today. A notable exception is the file uploader that LizardRob added for an easier way for users to share pictures and files below 20 megabytes.

Xat ChatBox Features

A screencap of the Xat chatroom with the doodle
  • Doodle - Allows all users on the doodle to draw a collaborative drawing. Doodle gives a box of colors to choose from and the opacity can be chosen. If there is a drawing on the doodle before a user joins the doodle program, said user cannot see that doodle. Users entering doodle are encouraged to ask before drawing on the doodle.
  • Connect Four - A simple game comprised of happy and angry Xat emoticons used as game pieces to play Connect Four. The object of the game is to connect four game pieces along a grid. Users must use the private chat feature in order to play with another user.
  • Chess- Allows players to play a game of chess in a private chat. The rules are not enforced by the client and players are free to set up the board however they wish.
  • Pool - A simple billiards game played in a private chat. Like Chess, none of the rules are enforced and so players are free to use house rules. Players click and hold down the mouse button to build up power and then release it to shoot. The physics are simplistic, sometimes resulting in clipping or unrealistic collisions.
  • Shoot 'Em Up - Aim for all Xat emoticons on the screen and click to shoot and kill. If a player kills several smilies in a row without mis-clicking, the player gets a combo and is awarded extra points.
  • YouTube Player - A feature that opens up on its own when you click on a YouTube link or a Photobucket link someone posts. ChatBox Moderators and Owners can broadcast videos on this that start right when you open in. To have this not open, hold alt or shift (depending on your keyboard type) when you click.
  • Translate - A feature that allows a user to communicate in one language while a translated version of the text appears right next to it. For example, if a user chose English as the spoken language and Spanish as the language to translate, a message in chat might appear like this: Hello [Hola].

Trivial

  • XGen Chat is known for its severe enforcing of rules and strictness.
  • Stick Arena players and users who pay online for Xat features are typically trolled and flamed here without any offense given to the instigator.
