The Sock Drawer Council was founded by Danielle, Sperry, and Chejrw in March of 2005 as an inside joke. Membership quickly swelled, and within a week elections were held for the first Chief Sock. Sock Council Members were given a small badge to display in their signature. The badge contained an animation of walking socks and the member's username. The Sock Council eventually grew to have it's own forums, web site, and domain (www.sockcouncil.com - now defunct), and over 50 members.

The Sock Council was governed by an elected leader, known as the Chief Sock. The Chief Sock then appointed 3 additional executives, the Right Sock, Left Sock, and Right Glove. These 4 people were collectively known as the "Sock Parliament". The duties of these positions, as well as many other things, were dictated by the Sock Council Charter, a dense and complicated legal document which made up the basis for the Sock Council's governance, and grew more and more complicated as time progressed through the addition of amendments and new sections.

Ultimately, the Sock Council collapsed under the weight of it's own uselessness, as members returned to XGenStudios' forums.

December 4th, 2009, the Sock Council restarted with Jonanin, Anon, Karl, Marty and Scornic as the initial members (usernames as found on the Sock Council forums). Their charter can be read publicly, and contains the purpose and guidelines of their group.

Applications are publicly held in a thread in Spammerland on saturdays, where anybody posts stating that they would like to be a part of the group, then the group votes and enters members who gain enough votes to be allowed in.

Rebellion

Huntar30, in May 2005, was a Sock Council rebel. He decided to form his own "party," the Reform Party, and built a secret forum elsewhere to discuss matters. The Reform Party garnered enough supporters from within the Council to elect Huntar30 to be the Chief Sock. He promptly filled Parliament with his Reform Party allies. The League of Crimson Velvet was formed by the founding members of the council as a rival faction to oppose the Reformists and recover control of the Council.

ABC123 and Huntar30 then conspired to ban chejrw, Danielle, and snowmanincave. Huntar30 believed it to be an idea to consolidate power. ABC123, however, used it as a plotting ground to spam XGen. Huntar30, unaware, gave people admin spots. He gave one to Woolfenstien - a double agent working for the The League of Crimson Velvet, who promptly banned Huntar30 and returned power over the Sock Council forum and website to Chejrw. Huntar30 and ABC123 were permanently banned from the XGen Forum for content on the Sock Council forum (specifically, plotting to spam XGen), however, Huntar30 was pardoned shortly afterwards after it was proven that spamming XGen was not his goal, and was unbanned. ABC123 remained banned until early 2009, some 4 years later.

Huntar30 received a lifetime ban from the Council for his actions in this drama, though one year later, the ban was lifted, and he became a good member, ultimately rising to the Right Glove of theryman's administration, just prior to the Sock Council's ultimate demise.
