Spammer Land (forum 34, SL, /34/, /SL/) is the central of hub of the forums, where most members frolic in the virtual forum fields and happily post freely. In Spammer Land, a user can post whatever they feel, provided that it doesn't go against the Rules.

Brief History

Spammer Land was first created June 23, 2003, by Skye as a result of many requests from users. With one reply, XGen Studios' most memorable forum and most posted-in thread was created.

Well, you asked for it... you got it

Don't abuse it. Oh wait... do abuse it.
The reason this forum was created was to keep spam out of the other forums. You now have no excuse for spamming elsewhere - you've been warned.

- No XCash will be awarded for posting in this forum.
- Keep it clean. (Eg, no porn)
- no outwar, $out$war, $$outwar, outw@@@r, $$OUT$$W@@@@@@@R, or any variation thereof, ok?

With this, many users asked to assist Skye in his moderator duties, while others used it as a place to perhaps blow off steam. Thus Spammer Land came into effect with a warning: "Enter at your own peril." Despite hearing the ominous music from hovering over the link, many users came to love this new forum.

From the time it was created to around 2007, post count was enabled. However, due to complaints of the forums self-proclaimed "aristocracy," post count was disabled, and remains to be disabled. Despite this, Spammer Land's flair for great potential and magnificence was not removed, and the users of XGenStudios still posted freely despite the fact that could no longer attain numerous posts without further venturing and posting into the other sections of the forums.

Common Threads

In Spammer Land, certain types of threads are likely to appear more than once. Normally they appear every once in a while, disappear, then reappear when they become the hot item again. Examples:

  • Rate threads: Rate threads are very simple. A user posts, looking to be validated by the Original Poster (to preserve e-self-esteem). Later, the OP will update the thread, giving users an arbitrary number rating (usually out of 10) and/or a lengthy review. If the thread remains constantly updated and the OP is popular enough, a rate thread can have upwards of 100 posts.
  • Blog Threads: Certainly rarer than rate threads, bloggers use XGen instead of LiveJournal/Xanga/Diary to vent about various issues. Most of these are shot down with the common response: "XGen is not your blog."
  • ATTN Threads: Attention threads exist for the purpose of garnering the attention of the user addressed in the thread title. Most of the time, the message inside and cryptic, and only the OP and the addressee will understand its meaning. These are very common due to peoples' needs to publicize everything, or perhaps because the general public has no idea what a Private Message is.
  • Sig threads: As of late, this is not always a Spammer Land exclusive thread type (coming to an Art Club near you), sig threads are made for the Original Poster to show off how much of a good sigsmith he/she is. They will post signatures made in Photoshop, Gimp, or even Paint, and generally attach a poll with ten options, each option ranging from 1/10 to 10/10. These threads are usually worthwhile if the OP actually knows how to make good signatures.

Memorable Threads

  • Spammer Land Thread created by skye. The official thread that opened the insanity filled forum we all know as Spammer Land. Currently not stickied, but it's still as important.
  • Counting to 1 million thread. Created by an early member, AnthonyL, each user counted from 1 until the goal of 1 million was reached. The thread never reached potential. Due to excessive forum downtime, Jordan and several other administrators decided some mass pruning had to be done. The counting to a million thread was deleted with XGen members only reaching 30 thousand. It is speculated that this thread has achieved the most posts in one thread in all of XGen's history.
  • I've Seen The Video Thread created by AssaultRifle. The once epic prank pulled by several of the members and moderators. The prank mainly involved AssaultRifle, Screech, and nirE. AssaultRifle and nirE pretended to release the video to several members and Screech acted like she was mad out and it ended with a fake ban to several members for added effect. Made it more epic when the video mentioned turned out to be true.
  • The Mexico Testicos was a parody SA clan created by Shane23 and Ghecko. It was originally described by Caesar as "kinda like some sort of twisted and contorted rate thread cluster####. If you like what someone posted, and you have power, you give them points. Dunno, it's sorta simple." Members who attained the "SMWG" (Super Master Warrior Guy) status, and the two founders, had the ability to give or take points away from members for whatever reason they wanted. When Ghecko was permanently banned from the forum, the thread was filled with outcries and petitions to "Free the Ghecko!" It eventually faded out of popularity and died albeit still remains one of the most posted-in threads in Spammer Land.
  • Poster #377 ITT gets a custom title change was created by XGen's own admin Justin on May 5, 2009. As described in the title, the 377th poster won a "custom" title change. After about four hours and 300-some-odd spam posts number 377 was reached by user Timelinemc, who won with just his second post in the entire thread. Immediately following was a rally to delete previous posts by each user to be able to take a screen shot of their post as #377.

Eventually, Justin un-deleted all deleted posts and declared Timelinmc the true winner. As it turns out, the title was custom, but Justin got to decide what it would be.

Spammer Land is one of the cornerstones of the forums and XGen's very own "place to be."

Renaming

Spammer Land has, on several occasions, been temporarily renamed to other things. For a short period in 2008 it was renamed /b/ (in honor of 4chan's random board). In May of 2009, the forum was renamed SRS BZNS. After every rename, it was eventually returned to its normal title; aside from the latter change, in which it was renamed Spammerland, a slight, yet weaker, variation of its old name.

On April Fools Day of 2010, the forum names were changed to French, so Spammer Land became "Le terre de spam." After April Fools Day ended, the name was changed to the literal translation of "The Land of Spam."
